The Mission is one of the vital heartbeats of the ministry. Mission is the parent to evangelism and outreach within the church. Some of the responsibilities of the mission are:
– Visit the Sick
These mission focuses represent how we will go about spreading the redeeming message of Jesus Christ to the world:
1. Education – Focuses Greater Mount Pleasant on how to fulfill God’s mission and opportunities for mission involvement (evangelism training, mission training, mission communications in Sunday School, and more).
2. Emphases – Focuses GMP on meeting felt needs. These emphases build credibility in order to share God’s message of love and redemption (Food Drives and others).
3. Events – Focuses GMP on opportunities to get involved personally in missions (local ministry and mission projects, disaster relief opportunities, mission trips, partnerships with churches and missionaries across the world, church planting, and more).
The office of Deacon is one of two biblical offices noted in the Bible. This office is filled by men that meet the qualifications according to 1 Timothy 3
Deacons serve the Lord by conducting the caring ministry of the church-doing the benevolence work, visiting the sick, being alert to the spiritual needs of the congregation-for the purposes of freeing the pastoral staff to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word, promoting unity within the church, and facilitating the spread of the gospel.
Music Ministry is dedicated and designed to uplift the Name of Jesus through song. This ministry is made up of the GMP Choir and The Children’s Choir. The main focus is to proclaim God through singing, praising and joyful sounds, while strengthening and enriching the Body of Christ.
The Mission of the Shepherds Ministry has been defined based on Exodus 17: 11-12 (Reading verses 8-12). “And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.” The Ministry goes forth as support to the Pastor with “A mind to Work”, supporting him and his vision for GMP.
It is with prayer and hope that this Ministry, promotes love for Pastor and First Lady and being an example of the relationship that must exist between him and the members of GMP.
It is imperative that this ministry pray for and with him; support him; and uplift him as he carries out the vision given to him by the Holy Spirit.
Description of Responsibilities
The Ministry was established for the express purpose of attending to the special needs of the Pastor in his position as shepherd of the flock. The Ministry is responsible for pastoral vestments, office, and general health articles. The Ministry will further act as a fellowship grouping and as spiritual supporters of the church.
Board of Trustees
A Trustee represents the congregation by making themselves available for the furtherance of the ministry. The trustee must understand church policies, governance, and oversight. Trustees are responsible for being in touch with the hopes, dreams, ideas, goals, fears and complaints of the congregants and, as appropriate, turning them into governing policies that provide direction and priorities to the Deacons and Pastor.
Trustees are also responsible for monitoring church finances, for evaluating whether reasonable progress is being made toward goals for advancement and vision of GMP.
Being a Trustee of GMP presents an opportunity to further its mission.
• To be considered for this ministry an individual must be faithful in attendance and maintain a tithing relationship with God.
